The 2023 Time is of the Essence Luncheon was a success!

It took place Thursday, January 26, 2023 at

The Mar-a-Lago Club, Palm Beach

On behalf of Chairwomen and Board Members Frances Fisher and Betsy K. Matthews, Andrea Stark welcomed close to 200 guests to H.O.W.'s annual Time is of the Essence Luncheon at The Mar-a-Lago Club. During this year's festivities Dr. Robert C. Knapp, H.O.W.'s Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board was honored. This extraordinary physician is a pioneer in ovarian cancer research who co-invented the blood test CA125 that detects ovarian cancer. We salute Dr. Knapp on behalf of women everywhere!

This year's guest speaker was Tovah Feldshuh, a six-time Emmy & Tony nominee, who has also been awarded three honorary Doctorates of Humane Letters. An accomplished actress on both stage and screen, Tovah is now appearing on Broadway in the musical revival Funny Girl. She has also appeared in major motion films and a variety of television productions. Never one to rest Tovah found the time to author her memoir, LILYVILLE: Mother, Daughter, and Other Roles I’ve Played. It was named #1 New Release in Parent Child Relationships on Amazon.

For her work on Broadway in Yentl, Saravá, Lend Me a Tenor, Golda’s Balcony, Irena’s Vow, Pippin, etc. Feldshuh has won four Drama Desks, four Outer Critics Circle, three Dramalogues, the Obie, the Theatre World, and the Helen Hayes and Lucille Lortel Awards for Best Actress. Her most recent theatre portrayal: Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in Jonathan Shapiro’s Sisters-in-Law, and Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer in Mark St. Germain’s Becoming Dr. Ruth.

For her charity work, she has been honored with the Israel Peace Medal and the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanities Award.

Your involvement and support of H.O.W.'s annual luncheon greatly impacts our mission of funding life-saving ovarian cancer research, medical student scholarships, and financial assistance and screenings for women in need.

Here's to another year of inspiring moments in our unending quest of ovarian cancer awareness for all women - for symptoms do not roar they whisper.
